Remember the sweater

I was knitting?

Well I finished it!

Kal2

Woo hoooo I finished it!!!!!!

Kal1

But wait... oh no... I think it is too big!

Kal3

I can't believe it!!!!!!

so what did I do????  I know I am crazy....

Kal5

I frogged it... yup took it completely apart and started all over again...  If I am going to take the time to make it, I want it to be just right.  I don't know why I made and xlarge instead of a large in the first place.

I know I will be glad I did this when it is all over!

My sweater is coming right along..

This is what the sweater will look like when it is finished..

Julietsweater

And when it is finished I will look as good in it as this person does...  :) HA!

Kalsweater3

I love how the sleeves were not knitted separately.

Kalsweater4

It looks small because I can't bring it all the way around my body, because of the needles.  But it fits just right so far!!!  So exciting!!

Look what I got in the mail today

Silk1_3

What is this you may ask?  Well it is called a silk handkerchief.

What do you do with this you may ask?

You make silk yarn.  How you ask?   Well I am going to tell you!!

Silk2

The square is made up of a bunch of really thin layers.  You peel a layer....

Silk3

Pull a hole in the middle of the square...

Silk5_2

Then with two hands, (I had to take the picture with one hand) you pull the silk until it looks something like this...

Silk4_4

Then you take your drop spindle.    I know everyone has a drop spindle right??

Silk6

and you spin the silk into yarn.   Cool huh??

Silk7_2

Silk9_2

Wa  La!  A ball of silk yarn Isn't it beautiful?  But wait!  It is not done yet......

Silk10

Remember I went to the bead store last weekend...  Why not add a few beads??

Silk11_2

So I did...  and I love the results!!!  Don't ask me what I am going to make with this because I don't know.   I may just put it some where and stare at it for a while.

Hard to believe that this:

Silk1_4

Can turn into this....

I must create!!!!

My friend Anna came to visit me this weekend and we went to the local bead store.  I got inspired to make a necklace....

Necklace1

It was fun to pick out something that I really liked

Necklace2

These are the coolest stones/ beads.  I put them on a silk ribbon.

Necklace3

And I even put a clasp on the ends!  Cool huh?   So now I have done that and don't need to make more..  I have a nice one of a kind necklace!

Hat1sm

This hat is for a hat swap I did on Ravelry.  I am working on the design myself.  I still want to make changes to the design of the leaf and then I will write a pattern for this hat.

Hat2sm

I have shipped this hat to Denmark.  I hope my swap partner likes it!

Now I am working on a sweater.  I haven't knitted a sweater in 15 years so I am excited about this

Kalsweater2

I took this picture of the pattern and yarn for the KAL on Ravelry.

So I have been making and creating.. All is good for the soul!!!!  Go out and make something today.  You will feel better for it!
