The Grass is always Greener
Why is this... If we have brown hair we want blond. If we have straight hair we die for it to be curly, and if it is curly...
we will do anything to make it straight!! We tell her that she should be proud of her curls. People pay good money to have their hair look like that. " Love your hair not some one else's " I wonder who she takes after?
Just look at those curls! Just beautiful!....... Man, when I was her age I would have just died to have curly hair... I dreamed about it and had perm after perm... trying so hard to get that curly hair. But it never would curl.. just stayed straight!
So when she begs me to "please straighten my hair " even though it may take two hours I always say "yes" Because I know exactly how she feels!

She is so happy and beautiful
The Kitchen
I have added new kitchen pictures. See how far we have come.
Camille and Camp
Here are some more pictures of Camille at camp.

OK the next post will be about Oklahoma......
Our Camp Experience
Since I fell in love with camp merri mac 20 years ago, it was hard for me not to tell Camille why I loved it in hopes she would fall in love too. I had to let her fall in love all on her own. It wasn't hard at for Camille to find her own way to fall in love with this place.
The first night she had to be initiated into a tribe. They have three tribes that compete with each other each summer. Choctaw, Iroquois , and Seminole. Even though it is supposed to be a secret what tribe a new camper is initiated into... Camille already knew since I was an Iroquois. (tribes stay in the family). But the excitement of not know what to expect was still there.
The tribes (old campers) get together and take the new campers to the counselor ring way up in the woods. When I was a counselor three of us would dress up in tribe colors and ride horses to the ring. It made the experience even more exciting for the new campers. While all the campers walked quietly through the woods to the counselor ring, one of the tribe leaders beat a single drum beat the whole way.

The make all the new campers sit together and wait...

All the tribe leaders make a big show by dressing up in war paint and danceing around the fire...

Then each new camper gets called out by name and the great white feather decides what tribe each camper will join.
What happens next is top secret and if I tell I would have to kill you... so ...

But here is Camille after the big secret and she is now officially an Iroquois!!! She was such a great camper...
Now what do I love about Merri Mac?? Here are a few things...

This was my bed for two weeks.. Much more comfortable than it looks. The house this room is in is a story all by itself!
These are some of the camp pictures. I will post another telling what all Camille did while she was there and then I will move on to the Oklahoma experience..... I know you all can't wait!
