The Important Things in Life

We all say it, "I will get it done tomorrow" " There is always next year" But what if there wasn't a next year or a tomorrow. I don't want to sound morbid, or negative but just what if you came close to not being around the next day. What would you consider the important things in life? What are some of the things in life that you love to do and need to find again.

One week ago today I came a little too close to not seeing the next day . Luckily I have many angels watching over me. Instead of seeing how horrible this was I decided that maybe this was a chance for me to sit back a take a really good look at my life and what I deem important. We get so caught up little things that we think is important but really in the large schema of things mean nothing.

I couldn't stop thinking about my kids...
Have you really sat down and thought about how good your kids smell? Even when they are stinky they smell good. I also started thinking about what I would want my kids to know about me and that I must start documenting more things for them later on. I decided that I didn't want to miss any small moments and I made a promise to spend more time with them.

Little things that my husband and I often disagreed with doesn't matter. Instead of worrying about the things that bother each other, we need to relax and just enjoy life together. Neither one of us is perfect.

I have forgotten how much I love being outside. I get so caught up in work that I will go an entire day without going outside. I have to take more time to go outside and soak up the sun and earth. Plant as many flowers as I can and watch them grow.

I like to do things spur of the moment. Wake up on a Saturday and just decide right then to go on a picnic or go hiking. Not all things have to be planned and sometimes plans can be changed.

I have forgotten how to laugh. The kind of laugh that makes you cry and goes through your whole body. Griffin has a great laugh .

These are just some of the things I need to find again.

So take a moment and think about what in your life is important. What is something you love to do but have forgotten because , let's face it life is hard Go out and find it!

What's in Your Back Yard?

As I have said before I love to grow things. Flowers, herbs, veggies.. you name it I will grow it. The only problem is I don't have a lot of yard that has sun on it. I have a small strip of ground in the corner of the yard, inside the fence that gets 8 hours of sun. It is about 8 feet by 5 feet.

I've grown tomatoes, basil, rosemary and two years ago I planted strawberries and a butterfly bush. Well that is about all that is there now because the strawberries have taken over the bed.

Which is O.K. because we love going out and picking fresh strawberries

The last year I dug up the small strip of ground that is right outside the fence and right on the property line because it also has eight hours of sun. I have black eyed susans, cone flowers, lilies, holly hocks and roses.

I planted roses for the first time last year. This year they are so beautiful! My Mom always had beautiful rose gardens when I was a kid. I have a light purple rose and a salmon pink rose.

Last year I planted these Holly Hocks and they did nothing. They have pretty much taken over the flower bed this year. I can't wait to see what color they will be. Today I found some time to dig some weeds out and to dig out another bed along the fence. I bought a bunch of flowers for my mother's day present. Tomorrow I will plant! As long as it doesn't rain.

My front yard is all shade. But I have fun planting it too. Actually it pretty much takes care of itself. I plant impatiences and caladiums for a splash of color. I love adding little bits of art in my flower beds.

I have a brand new growing season to play with and I can't wait to see how everything grows!

So what's growing in your yard?

The Arts, Birthdays, Friends and Family

What a weekend! One of those weekends that you do a lot and keep busy, have fun and then feel good about being so tired.

My Good friends Dee and Ken had their artwork in a huge art fair in Nashville. They have a business called Garden Art Impressions. They make beautiful garden art and fountains from leaves and cement.
I helped them in their booth all day on Saturday. I really enjoy helping them when they do shows. I love meeting people and getting outside and being surrounded by art all day. They did really well this weekend and we didn't stop talking, packing and taking money all day.

One of Dee and Ken's beautiful fountains

Griffin got a bug in a box and Griffin had a fun time putting Nana's hood on her head.

And Today, Sunday was Brian's birthday. So we went to Outback for lunch.

Gina, Griffin and Camille having fun.

Then they decided to see who could make the funniest face.

The birthday boy and me.

I took a moment to play with my new camera. Had to beg Camille to let me photograph her but I think it was worth it. Love my new camera...

How does your garden grow?

Hopefully mine will grow well. We planted the veggie garden today. The kids and I planted in between the rain falls. We planted tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, squash, and watermelon. Our neighbor, who is 94 years old has had a garden in this spot for the last 50 years. This year he was put in a nursing home and he asked if we would plant his garden for him and keep it up. We have tried to help him the last few years. I would go get the plants but he insists to get out there and plant them himself. His garden got smaller and smaller every year.

So this year we are bringing it back to life. So hopefully it will grow for us as well as it did for our neighbor.

Camille decided to become a part of the dirt. She took a long bath after this.

I just had to take a picture of those hands. I think she will have a green thumb like me. :)

After the garden fun and I had Camille in the bath I looked out the window and Brian and Griffin were having a little Father and son time. Had to grab the camera and run outside.

I think Griffin will take after Daddy and love Golf too.
